Svetovni rekord: 141 m (Oberstdorf, 1961) World Record: 141 m (Oberstdorf, 1961)
Novoletna turneja: 3. mesto (Ga-Pa, 1960) New Year’s Series: 3rd place (Ga-Pa, 1960)

Jože Šlibar was a complete unknown in ski jumping two years before sensationally breaking the world record in ski flying in Obsterdorf in 1961. He first asserted himself with his lean figure, unique jumping style and extreme courage and confidence in the FIS competition in Kulm in 1959, when he produced a personal best jump of 113 metres. He would confirm his immense talent by becoming the first Slovenian jumper to win a podium place at the New Year’s Series, as he finished 3rd in the Garmitsch Parkenkirchen event on 1 January 1960. He would set a new record on the Ga-Pa hill in the process. A serious fall on the Bloudek giant hill in Planica in 1963 cut his career short.
